I am a survivor. On April 19th, 2011, my life was forever changed. I am not going to dwell on the past, and hide in embarrassment like i have for the last year. What happened to me was tragic, but i am not going to dwell on it anymore. I will not let the rumors, gossip, or anyone else bring me down. Assault and rape is not easy, and no one should ever have to go through that alone. One in four women are assaulted. Only one in 10 of those go to the police. It’s so terrible how many people are victimized. I’m tired of hiding. I’m not going to let what happened bring me down anymore. I’m sharing this with everyone now to show that i will not let what people think, do, or say about what happened bring me down anymore. I will use this to motivate me, and to show others that they are not alone. Speak up, tell someone. I can promise you that you are not alone. I am here for anyone and everyone. Don’t let assault, rape, or anything hold you back. You are not responsible for anyone else’s actions. You are never alone.
